Russian babushkas give warm socks, fuzzy mittens to Medvedev, Putin

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin received knitted socks and mittens ahead of wintertime “on behalf of all babushkas.”

During a meeting with Russian war veterans and retirees, 77-year old Rimma Kostina, a retireee from the northern town of Naryan-Mar presented homemade socks and mittens to the ruling duo.

“Winter is approaching. Let me give you a present on behalf of all the babushkas,” the Kostina said.

Kostina, who has a large family of five grandchildren and a great-granddaughter, said that she believed her grandchildren would live happily in a free, rich and powerful Russia.

The retiree however did not elaborate who would make Russia powerful.
