MOSCOW, March 21 (RIA Novosti) – Russian-born scientist Alexander Polyakov has been awarded the $3-million 2013 Fundamental Physics Prize for his work in field theory and string theory. “I feel elated and surprised to receive this recognition. It is a great honor. I hope it will help attract more people to the field of physics and spur innovation and discovery across the globe,” said Polyakov at a ceremony held in Geneva, according to a press release sent out by the Fundamental Physics Prize Foundation on Thursday.
