A Russian refrigerated cargo vessel has sunk in the Sea of Okhotsk off Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula, the Emergencies Ministry reported on Sunday.
“At 1:15 p.m. Moscow time [09:15 a.m. GMT], the PTR-West transport refrigerator overturned in the Sea of Okhotsk, 8 km [5 miles] off the coast,” the ministry said in a statement.
“The crew of eight members boarded two life rafts. Two fishing vessels are hurrying to the shipwreck site. A Mi-8 helicopter has been readied [for a possible rescue operation],” the statement said.
There have been no reports of any victims so far.
