Russian Governor Aide Held in $30M Fraud Case

Police have detained an aide to the Murmansk governor on suspicion of a 1-billion-ruble ($30 million) case of fraud, the suspect’s lawyer said on Friday.

Alexei Presnov’s detention, however, was not related to his position as the governor’s aide, his lawyer Alexander Panfilov said.

The fraud case goes back to 2007-2010 when Presnov was president of an electricity management company, Kres-alliance.

Earlier reports said police suspected the company management of pocketing a total of 1 billion rubles.
