Russian Tourist Died in China of Head Injury

VLADIVOSTOK, March 27 (RIA Novosti) – A Russian female tourist died in a Chinese hospital of a sustained head injury that was inflicted by a heavy object, Andrei Brovarets, a spokesman for the Foreign Ministry’s department in Russia’s Far East, said on Wednesday.

Maria Sevostyanova, from Russia’s Primorye Territory, was waiting for her friend in the city of Suifenhe, in southeastern Heilongjiang province, when a heavy object falling from a nearby building hit her in the head.

“Chinese policemen are investigating now whether it was an accident or the heavy object was dropped on the woman’s head intentionally,” Brovarets said.

He added that the ministry holds talks with the tourism agency of the late woman concerning the return of her body home after the forensics expertise.
