Russians Cross Bering Strait on Jet Skis

A group of Russians has crossed the Bering Strait from Russia to Alaska on jet skis, covering a total of 500 kilometers (300 miles), a spokesman for Chukotka’s government said on Monday.

“A team of adventurers…comprising five people left Providence Bay [in Russia’s Chukotka] on July 29 and has successfully reached Wales, Alaska, on jet skis, making it the first trip of that kind performed by Russians,” the spokesman said.

The group expects to make the return trip to Providence Bay either in the evening of August 2 or the morning of August 3, the spokesman said.
