Russia’s LUKoil, France’s Total change name of Dutch refinery

Shareholders of the Dutch oil refinery Total Raffinaderij Nederland (TRN), 45 percent of which is owned by Russia’s LUKoil (LKON), have decided to change the company’s name to Zeeland.

The new name will take effect on October 1, 2011, LUKoil said. Shareholders made the decision because the refinery is located in the Zeeland province of the Netherlands, where most of its employees work and where most of its subordinate organizations are located.

The previous name carried only one of the partners’ name, France’s Total, which owns 55 percent of the company. LUKoil became a shareholder in the Dutch oil refinery in 2009.

Shareholders also plan to change the company’s emblem with a green and blue background split by the letter Z. The colors represent the sea and earth as the company is located on the seaside.
