MOSCOW, Jul 29 (PRIME) — Major Russian telecommunications operator Rostelecom is expected to launch a single TV via Internet Protocol (IPTV) platform for its national network in late 2011, Moscow-based digital TV platform developer SmartLabs, which is to supply IPTV solutions to Rostelecom, said Friday.
SmartLabs has already started the project for creating the single IPTV platform for Rostelecom, SmartLabs said without providing the value of the project. In early July business daily Kommersant reported, citing telecommunications market participants, that the value of the deal was expected to amount to more than U.S. $50 million.
Rostelecom currently provides IPTV services based on several platforms to a total of more than 400,000 subscribers, the companys spokesman Oleg Rumyantsev told Kommersant.
