If you have not seen the Soviet comedy classic Kidnapping Caucasian Style, there is now a strong reason to do so: soon you will get the chance to see a sequel.
The original movie tells a story of a naive student Shurik who comes to the Caucasus to learn local traditions. His hope to learn local customs gets him caught up in kidnapping a local beauty.
A sequel has been proposed by the company developing holiday resorts in the North Caucasus.
The company explained they want to portray the North Caucasus as a safe place and to fight negative stereotypes.
The movie is to be shot by famous Russian filmmaker Fyodor Bondarchuk, the man behind The 9th Company, portraying the Soviet war in Afghanistan and The Inhabited Island, based on the Strugatsky brothers’ novel.
