Seven Suspects in Muslim Leaders Attack ‘Set Free’

Investigators in central Russia have released seven suspects in the killing of one top Muslim cleric and the wounding of another.

Police carried out “all the necessary investigative actions” concerning the men, the Investigative Committee said in a press release.

The men are now subject to a court summons, it added. Their names were not revealed.

One person remains in custody, and a search is still ongoing for three other suspects in the July 19 attacks, which saw the Mufti of the central Russian Tatarstan region, Ildus Fayzov, injured in car bombing and a former deputy mufti, Valiulla Yakupov, shot dead.
