SOCHI, July 16 (Itar-Tass) —— First graduates of free courses of the English language in Sochi, which will host the Winter Olympic Games in 2014, will welcome participants in the Silk Way rally, which will finish on July 16 in Sochi.
Over 100 graduates have finished the courses successfully, Sochi’s Head of Youth Policy Department Andrei Bezrodnov said.
Practically all 76 schools of the city have opened such courses, “where teachers run classes for anyone who chooses to study English,” he said. All the courses are free of charge.
The 20-hours’ course programme includes most popular key phrases, which the students learn to be able to speak with foreign guests.
“Our first graduates represent people of various professions – doctors, migration service officers, waiters and retirees.”
At the same time, teachers of the city’s universities draft special programmes for those who will serve guests of the Game. Sochi’s University of tourism and resort will invite from October staff of hotels to the language courses.
The free language courses will continue in Sochi after 2014, the Olympic year, and the city plans to organise new programmes for distance learning.
