A 23 year-old soldier has been killed after tripping an explosive device in the Russian North Caucasus Republic of Ingushetia, a regional investigation committee reported on Thursday.
The incident occurred in the evening on May 23 in a forest near the village of Nizhny Alkun, in the Sunzha district in Ingushetia. A soldier from the 3718 military unit of the Russian Interior Ministry, Ivan Sokolov, tripped an unidentified explosive device during reconnaissance and search operations.
“Sokolov was delivered to hospital where he died from injures,” said the statement.
