About 200 militants have been killed and over 230 detained in Russia’s troubled North Caucasus so far this year, the Prosecutor General’s Office said on Monday.
A total of 326 “crimes of a terrorist nature” have been registered in the North Caucasus, which accounts for almost 90 percent of such crimes countrywide, it said.
More than 100 security officers have been killed and over 200 injured in militant attacks, the office said.
The greatest instability is in Dagestan, where state and government officials come under attack the most often, it added.
Twenty five civilians have been killed and 110 injured in the republic since the start of the year.
“The measures that are being implemented have not significantly altered the crime situation in the district,” the Prosecutor General’s Office said.
