VLADIVOSTOK, August 9 (Itar-Tass) — A storm warning has been announced in Russia’s city of Vladivostok. Boat and ferry communication was stopped in the morning with the Russky and Popov islands off Vladivostok, sources from the transport department of the city administration told Tass on Tuesday.
According to weathermen, gale force winds with gusts of wind up to 20 meters per second are expected within the day. This is because the powerful typhoon Muifa is moving across China.
The press service of the regional meteorological centre said the tropical storm will change its trajectory from northern to north-eastern and will approach northern Primorye overnight to August 10. It will lose much of its force there, and will turn into a usual cyclone.
Apart from gale-force winds, the typhoon will bring in the region rains of different intensity. They are expected across the whole region, but most intensive rains are expected in the north.
