KAZAN, Russia — A theater festival featuring performances by actors from various Turkic-speaking countries has opened in Kazan, RFE/RL’s Tatar-Bashkir Service reports.
Forty theater groups from several Turkophone countries and regions within the Russian Federation are scheduled to stage performances at Kazan’s Tinchurin and Kamal theaters in the Nauruz Turkic Nations’ Theater festival.
The festival opened on May 30 and will end on June 3.
Rustam Minnikhanov, president of the Russian republic of Tatarstan, attended the opening ceremony on May 30 and met with participating actors.
