Sayonara, Sarah! Online gamers now have the chance to aim an Uzi at the skull of Sarah Palin and some of the Tea Party figurehead’s Republican chums.
You won’t be allowed the opportunity to blow the brains out of Mrs. Palin, per say. No, no, no. “Tea Party Zombies Must Die,” a new game released by the creative minds at the viral “advergaming” group Starvingeyes, lets the users take aim at a whole slew of right-wing lawmakers. As you could probably guess from the title, however, Palin and pals have taken the form of the living dead and are flesh-craved and on the prowl.
Using an arsenal of weapons, the protagonist in this first-person shooter game transverses a Tea Party rally and a torn-apart trailer park with the goal of protecting America from the evil wrath of Michele Bachmann and Fox News anchors. In this game, actions take place in an alternate universe where Koch Industries dispatches lobbying zombie pigs to buy their votes.
At least, we think it’s at alternate universe.
Starvingeyes founder Jason Oda tells Media Research Center that the game was just a personal project that he didn’t think would affect business for his company. Oda has been making games since 2000 and has achieved underground notoriety over the last decade for a string of titles, including an Internet sensation back in 2003 that let users control indie musicians like Dashboard Confessional protect a fellow emo group from being anally raped by Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler. A year later, his Bushgame title allowed Internet fans to attack members of the George W Bush administration with the help of Mr. T and He-Man.
Seven years down the road, Oda is back at it again, but instead of Dick Cheney as the demonized bad guy, targets include zombie versions of Newt Gingrich, Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum. Of course those are only the big names in Tea Party Zombies Must Die. There are a whole slew of minor characters that must be chopped in half and shot in the head, including the “Pissed off stupid white trash redneck birther zombie,” the “expresses racist views anonymously on the Internet modern Klan zombie” and of course “factory made blonde Fox News Barbie who has never had a problem in her life zombie.”
Of course, if the “factory made blonde Fox News Barbie who has never had a problem in her life zombie” is just too generic for the avid gamer, there is a walking-dead version of Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck.
