Three people were killed after a privately-owned light aircraft crashed to the south of Saint Petersburg, local Emergencies Ministry’s department said in a statement.
The plane crashed into the Tigoda River near the village of Kusino in the Leningrad Region at about 21.00 p.m. local time on Monday.
“The plane was recovered from the river at 23.10 [19.10 GMT] and three dead bodies were discovered inside,” a statement said.
Specialists from the local emergencies department are currently working at the scene of the crash to establish the cause of the tragedy.
