KIEV, August 21 (Itar-Tass) — Ukrainian ex-premier Yulia Timoshenko, interned at Kiev’s Lukyanovsky investigation ward, again refused to be examined by specialists of the Ukrainian Health Ministry, reported on Sunday the press service of the Ukrainian State Penitentiary Service.
“A group of medical specialists of the Health Ministry arrived on Sunday again to carry out a medical checkup of defendant Timoshenko at the Kievsky investigation ward. The ex-premier again flatly refused to be examined and to receive necessary medical aid from the ministry’s specialists,” the report says.
In the meantime, the penitentiary service claims that “the state of Timoshenko’s health is satisfactory: she is under constant care of the investigation ward’s medical personnel”.
Earlier, defence lawyer Yuri Sukhov said that Timoshenko displays “worrisome symptoms, different from symptoms of known diseases, reasons for whose appearance are unknown”. In this connection, the defence requested the court to bring a doctor to the investigation ward for the ex-premier whom she trusts in order to carry out a medical checkup and taking tests as well as to find out reasons for emergence of these symptoms.
