The top scoring goalkeeper in football’s history, Rogerio Ceni, who plays for Brazilian side Sao Paulo, has netted the hundredth goal of his career.
The 38-year-old veteran put the ball in from free-kick in his team’s 2-1 win over Corinthians in the championship of Sao Paulo state on the weekend, AP news agency reports.
Ceni has scored all of his goals from set-pieces, with 56 of them coming from free-kicks and the rest from penalties.
It has to be noted that according to the statistics of football’s world governing body FIFA, the keeper has only 98 goals on his tally.
But Ceni also counts the two goals he got in friendly games against the combined team of Santos and Flamengo in 1998, and Russian side Uralan in 2000.
Rogerio Ceni has spent his whole career with Sao Paulo. He made his debut for the club in 1992 and first saw his name on the scoreboard in 1997.
