Two Bombs Found in Car in North Caucasus

MOSCOW, May 29 (RIA Novosti) – Police found and defused two explosive devices in a car in Russia’s North Caucasus Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria late on Tuesday, the Interior Ministry’s main directorate in the North Caucasus Federal District said.

The discovery was made when police inspected a Lada car in Nalchik, the republic’s capital.

“A Makarov pistol with four cartridges was found inside the car, between seats, while two explosive devices were discovered in the car’s trunk,” the directorate said in a statement.

According to police, the bombs, one equivalent to five kilograms (11 lbs) of TNT and the other to one kilogram (2.2 lbs) of TNT, were being transported by a 23-year-old suspected militant accomplice.

Both bombs were taken outside the city and defused.
