Two former Russian police officers and an Afghan war veteran have been sentenced to seven to eight years for kidnapping a businessman and holding him at ransom, investigators said on Wednesday.
The three men abducted a 32-year old businessman, whose name was not disclosed, last September in the Urals city of Yekaterinburg and demanded 7.5 million rubles ($270,000) for his release.
The businessman was subsequently freed in a special police operation.
The court also ordered each convict to pay the businessman 100,000 rubles ($3,600) in moral damages.
