Two people were killed when two freight trains collided in Russia’s Urals region on Thursday, an emergencies ministry spokesman said.
The dead both worked on one of the trains.
Some seventy coal cars overturned after one of the trains derailed, causing serious damage to the tracks.
The crash could have been caused by faulty brakes, the spokesman said.
Rail service has been halted on the Yeral-Simskaya stretch in the Chelyabinsk region.
