MOSCOW, July 24 (Itar-Tass) — The supposed ringleader of the Derbent terrorist group and two possible suicide bombers were destroyed in a special operation in Dagestan, Itar-Tass learnt from a representative of the public relations centre of the National Anti-Terrorist Committee (NAC).

“Officers of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) and of the Interior Ministry for Dagestan detected and sealed off four members of a terrorist group, operating in the republic, at a private home in the city of Dagestanskie Ogni on Sunday at 01.00,” the NAC reported.

Following the evacuation of residents of nearby houses, law enforcers proposed that the bandits should surrender, but they opened indiscriminate fire. Three of them were killed by return fire,” the NAC stated.

The killed were identified as Mekhtibek Bashirov, born in the village of Gedzhukh, Derbent district, who was an active member of an armed gang since 2008 and later headed the so-call terrorist group of the Derbent district, his civil wife Inna Cherenkova, born in Makhachkala, and local resident Islamudin Guseinov. His civil wife Zara Kadimagomedova was wounded and hospitalized.

According to the NAC, Guseinov and Bashirov are suspected of complicity in attempts on the life of law enforcers, extortion of money and murders, including the assassination on July 16 of the administration head of the village of Gedzhukh Kaflan Kadyrov and the explosion of a police jeep on July 23 near the Derbent city police department where several policemen were wounded.

According to NAC data, “Cherenkova and Kadimagomedova were on the federal Wanted List, since they had been trained by bandits to be used as suicide bombers”.

Law enforcers found at the house two submachine-guns, two TNT blocks, a great amount of ammunition and two ready “suicide belts”.

“There were no casualties among law enforcers and civil population during the special operation,” the NAC stated. The house is now being searched by FSB officers.
