Two Suspected Militants Killed on Chechen-Ingush Border

ROSTOV-ON-DON, February 22 (RIA Novosti) – Two suspected militants were killed on Friday on the border between two Russian North Caucasus republics, Chechnya and Ingushetia, a spokesman for the region’s security council told RIA Novosti by phone.

“A counter-terrorism operation regime was imposed in Ingushetia’s Sunzhensky district on the border with Chechnya. Two active members of armed groups have been killed,” he said.

The republic’s interior ministry said, however, the militants were killed in Chechnya’s Achkhoi-Martan district, some 15 km south of the village of Bamut.

The bodies have already been identified. Both men have been on the federal wanted list.

No deaths or injuries among law-enforcers have been reported.
