U.S. Universal to Operate Moscow Entertainment Park

U.S. Universal Park Resorts will run an entertainment park in Moscow’s Galaktika Park mall to be built in the city’s south, Sait-Salam Gutseriyev, co-owner of Russia’s BN industrial and financial group which implements the project, said on Thursday.

The 150,000-square-meter park will be the fifth in the world operated by Universal Park Resorts, a division of NBC Universal, with annual attendance from five to six million people per year, Gutseriyev told RIA Novosti.

Investment in park amusement infrastructure will amount to $500 million, while total spending on the Galaktika Park project, which also includes offices and a hotel, will stand at $2.8 billion.

The park with world famous rides as well as rides designed especially for Russia will be the first fully indoor amusement facility for Universal, Michael Silver, head of international business development efforts for Universal Parks Resorts, said.

The entire Galaktika Park complex will cover 700,000 square meters. BN plans to start construction works at the end of 2014 and complete them in 2018.
