KIEV, August 18 (Itar-Tass) —— Ukraine’s former prime minister Yulia Timoshenko, who is facing a trial on office abuse charges, on Thursday asked Kiev’s Pechersky Court to let a doctor examine her in prison over health impairment.
“I demand they let a doctor I trust see me,” she said at court.
Timoshenko’s lawyer, Yuri Sukhov, said he had already filed an appeal to have Timoshenko undergo medical examination and tests. “There have emerged dangerous signals that cannot be classified as symptoms of common diseases,” he said.
Judge Rodion Kireyev, however, said that doctors in the detention centre had already offered medical help to Timoshenko, but she declined it.
Alexander Turchinov, Timoshenko’s right hand in the Batkivshchina party said earlier in the day that Timoshenko’ s health had dramatically deteriorated. “Due to some unknown reason, bruises in the form of burst blood vessels have emerged all over her body,” he said.
