Ukraine and Vietnam plan to develop bilateral cooperation in nuclear energy, the military and industrial spheres, as well as in agriculture, the presidents of both countries said on Saturday.
Kiev and Hanoi have broken a period of 15 years of stalemate in bilateral relations after Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych made an official visit to the Asian country.
“We see great non-realized potential in our trade and economic relations,” Yanukovych’s press service quoted him as saying during a joint press conference in Hanoi with his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Minh Triet.
The Vietnamese leader said that the two countries are also reviewing methods of cooperation with Kiev in the energy, in particular in the oil and gas industry.
“We would also like to develop our cooperation in military and security, as well as staff training,” Triet said.
Yanukovych will be in Vietnam on an official visit through March 27.
