ULYANOVSK, July 25 (Itar-Tass) —— The newly established Ecological Chamber of the Ulyanovsk region will hold its first session on Monday, the region’s minister of the forestry and environment, Dmitry Fedorov told Itar-Tass.
The chamber, set up at the initiative of the region’s governor Sergei Morozov, includes scientists, experts in local lore, members of local legislatures, and journalists nominated by regional public organizations and movements.
The chamber will discuss a plan of work for the next few months, as well as problems facing protected areas and competences of an ecological inspection that is to be set up in the region.
“Nature preservations is becoming one of the basics of positive thinking for many people. Their initiative needs to be supported and the Ecological Chamber will help pool the efforts of such enthusiasts,” said the governor. “We will focus on foreign practices in the area of environment protection. We will study such practices and adopt the best of them.”
Ecologists from Germany will also attend the first session of the Ecological Chamber. “One of Europe’s biggest wild eagle nesting sites is located in the Ulyanovsk region. We hope to exchange experience and establish cooperation to preserve wild eagles,” said Matthias Freude of the Environmental Agency of the State of Brandenburg.
The session will be held in the open air, in the Vinnovskaya grove on the bank of the River Volga. Furth sessions are also planned to be held outdoors.
