The Bakoulev Center for Cardiovascular Surgery in Moscow performed a unique heart surgery on May 19. Renowned surgeon Leo Bokeria became the world’s first cardiac surgeon to implant a valve made from animal tissues into a young girl with a congenital heart disorder.
