Up to 40 participants of unsanctioned rally in Moscow arrested

Moscow police on Sunday have arrested up to 40 participants of an unsanctioned rally, when they attempted to march on Tverskaya street.

Some 100 people took part in the rally. Two groups, consisting of 15-20 people each, were seating on the ground, holding each others hands and shouting slogans. At the end some of the participants of the rally attempted to march on Moscow’s Tverskaya street and were arrested by the city’s police.

An opposition activist, coordinator of the Left Front movement, Sergei Udaltsov, is one of those detained.

Earlier in the day police said it would not detain protesters until they do not pose a risk to public order.
