In 2013, capital investment in its Berezniki-based subsidiary Azot as well as in Mineralnye Udobrenia (Mineral Fertilizers) in Perm (subsidiaries of the United Chemical Company URALCHEM, OJSC) will total 3.5 billion rubles. Investments in 2012 exceeded two billion rubles.

Murad Chaparov, the director of both companies, told RusBusinessNews that a two-year project has already begun at Mineral Fertilizers to modernize the unit that produces ammonia, at a cost of 547 million rubles. One of the goals of the investment program is to increase production levels. In comparison with 2011, output during 2012 rose by 4% at both companies.

Special focus is being placed on environmental-protection measures, which were the recipient of 120 million rubles in spending last year. Each year Azot and Mineral Fertilizers undergo a certification procedure, verifying their compliance with international standards of quality and environmental management.
