A large group of angry Lebanese youths attacked a group from the US embassy on Saturday after referring to them as US criminals.
The US embassy has confirmed the incident occurred on Saturday after embassy staff had left a restaurant in southern port town of Sidon.
There were no injuries to the group, even though stones and glasses were thrown at them.
With hurled missiles smashing the windows of the car in which the embassy group was travelling, Lebanese security forces were forced to intervene.
According to officials, the youths accused the group of being attached to Israel and of being in Lebanon to “soil the land of martyrs.”
The army later arrived to arrest some of the attackers.
