VLADIKAVKAZ, July 30 (Itar-Tass) — A woman, who received burns and injuries in a household gas explosion in later June in Vladikavkaz, Russia’s North Caucasus republic of North Ossetia, has died at a Moscow-based clinic, a spokesman for the North Ossetian mission in Moscow told Itar-Tass on Saturday.
According to Irbek Doyev, the woman, Rita Sabeyev, 51, died at the Federal Medical and Biological Centre. Since June 25, when the accident occurred, she has been in critical condition at an intensive care ward.
The accident took place at a private house in the centre of Vladikavkaz on June 25. A gas tank exploded, when a wedding was being celebrated. Fifty-five people were hurt, among them six children. More than twenty of those injured were taken to hospitals in Moscow and St. Petersburg. As many as 19 are still in hospitals. According to experts, the explosion resulted from de-pressurization of the gas tank.
