Russia’s Vera Zvonareva beat compatriot Ksenia Pervak in the final of the WTA tournament in the Azeri capital Baku.
The match meeting lasted 1 hour and 23 minutes, with the top seed experiencing problems only in the second set.
Zvonareva allowed her 20-year-old opponent to win two breaks, but she came back to take Pervak’s serve and cruised to a straight-set victory, 6-1 6-4.
The Baku Cup triumph was the 26-year-old’s 12th career title and her second win on the WTA Tour this year.
In February Zvonareva beat world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki to win the prestigious event in Doha.
