Eyewitnesses report
that Tripoli was rocked by at least two powerful explosions, followed by the
firing of anti-aircraft batteries located near Muammar
Gaddafi’s palace complex.
The
night sky was lit up by lines of tracer fire.
The Arabic television channel
Al-Jazeera said the head of one of Gaddafi’s loyal groups, Hussein al-Varfali was
killed near Tripoli. The circumstances of his death were not disclosed.
