The participants in the EU summit have coordinated joint steps to raise the safety of the nuclear energy industry. They have taken a decision to test nuclear reactors at NPPs on all the EU territory. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev recently suggested working out uniform international requirements to NPP safety and refraining from building such plants in seismic areas. The nuclear energy industry is in the focus of world attention due to the emergency situation at Japanese NPPs as a result of an earthquake and tsunami.
