Japanese Consul-General in Vladivostok Yamada Jun has thanked Russians for their condolences. “The warmest and most sincere words of sympathy came from Russia from the very beginning,” he said at a meeting where the students of the Far Eastern Federal University honoured the memory of earthquake victims in Japan with a minute of silence. The Consul General pointed out that Japan is facing a long and difficult rehabilitation period. “However, it will be easier to overcome this disaster with such a neighbor as Russia,” he said.
