A military operation against Libya may start in a matter of hours, with France taking part in it, says a French Government official, Francois Baroin, in a televised interview.
The UN Security Council adopted last night a resolution on Libya providing specifically for a military operation against the Gaddafi regime. Meanwhile the Jamahiriya authorities are changing the pattern of fighting around Benghazi.
The Libyan leader’s son Saif al-Islam has said that the troops will not storm the city, which is known as the opposition’s stronghold.
Earlier Libyan Foreign Ministry official Khaled Qaim said that the authorities are prepared to declare a cease-fire.
