Two Uzbekistan natives living in Central Russia’s Kaluga Region have been sentenced to four years imprisonment each for an attempt to sell their own newborn child, the local investigation committee said.
In February 2012 police from the city of Obninsk received information that 32-year-old pregnant woman, Gulnora Karabayeva, and her 21-year-old boyfriend, Bakhodir Dzhourayev, were preparing to sell their child.
The couple was arrested in early February after Karabayeva gave birth to a daughter and sold her for $500 to an undercover police officer.
The girl is in now in social care in a hospital.
