Two of the people injured in the shooting, which happened in the early hours of Sunday, are reported to be in critical condition.
The shootout happened at the intersection of Stanley Avenue and Crescent Street.
At least four of the victims have been reportedly taken to the Brookdale Hospital, two of them with minor injuries, while the others had to be rushed inside on gurneys.
“I heard more than five shots,” Saylo Alston, a resident at nearby Pink Houses, told the New York Post. “I was on my way to the store. Everyone laid down on the ground, and when the shooting stopped, everyone got up and ran. Everyone scattered.”
