Eight militants and one member of the security forces were killed in clashes in Dagestan on Sunday, authorities said.
A member of the Interior Troops and three militants were killed in a morning skirmish in the Kizlyar region of Dagestan, the Investigative Committee said. Three local policemen were wounded, the report said.
Itar-Tass later quoted a spokesman for the National Anti-Terrorism Committee as saying eight militants were killed Sunday as security forces stepped up the anti-terrorist operation.
