A weather record for October 8 was established in Moscow on Saturday, the hmn.ru weather news portal said.
The previous temperature record for October 8 was established in 1974, when temperatures rose to 19.6 degrees Centigrade (67.3 degrees Fahrenheit). According to the Russian Hydrometeorology Center’s data, the normal average temperature for this day is 6.6 degrees Centigrade (43.9 degrees Fahrenheit).
“At 14:00 Moscow time [10:00 GMT] a weather station at the All-Russian Exhibition Center in northern Moscow recorded the temperature of 20 degrees Centigrade (68 degrees Fahrenheit), up 0.4 degrees from the previous record,” the website said.
The weather will get slightly worse on Sunday, meteorologists say, with overcast skies and temperatures expected at +13 degrees Centigrade (55.4 degrees Fahrenheit). However, it will still be well above the average temperature for October 9, which is 6.4 degrees Centigrade (43.5 degrees Fahrenheit).
