TYUMEN, August 1 (Itar-Tass) — Almost all wildfires have been put out in Russia’s Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area (Yugra). Firefighters combat the blaze only in the Beloyarsk forestry area, where two fires covering an area of 5.1 hectares continue burning, sources from the regional department for natural resources and non-resource sector of Yugra’s economy said on Monday.
Over the past weekend the area of forest fires in the region reduced more than 170 times. On Friday, July 29, twenty fires engulfing an area of 878 hectares were fixed in the region. Rains contributed to fight against wildfires.
All in all, 722 fires, destroying 34,958 hectares of woodland, have been fixed in the region this year since the fire-prone season began.
