One person has died and three remain hospitalized after a tornado hit the Far Eastern Russian city of Blagoveshchensk, a district military spokesman said on Monday.
The tornado hit the downtown area of the city with a population of around 220,000 on Sunday evening and lasted for 13 minutes. Blagoveshchensk is the capital of the Amur Oblast bordering China.
The spokesman said that more than 120 military cadets were involved in the cleanup efforts following the tornado.
In all, 28 people were injured; however, only four individuals were hospitalized. One person later died in the hospital from injuries.
