An international auction of precious stones in Myanmar’s capital has won the receipts of over $ 2.8 bln.
Most of the buyers were from China and Thailand. There were also many from Singapore, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea and India.
They showed especial interest to rubies and to jadeite – a greenish-yellow stone also known as “the emperor’s nephrite”. Myanmar is the world’s largest producer of rubies and jadeites.
