Belarus Gets 3rd Tranche of EurAsEC Bailout Loan

EurAsEC, a regional economic grouping of ex-Soviet republics led by Russia, has disbursed the third tranche of a $3-billion bailout loan to Belarus, a spokesperson of National Bank of Belarus said on Friday.

“We received the third tranche worth $440 million today,” the spokesperson said.

EurAsEC approved the disbursement of a $3-billion stabilization loan to help Belarus tackle its currency problems and disbursed two tranches, of $800 million and $440 million, in 2011.

Belarus is scheduled to receive a fourth tranche of the loan, also worth $440 million, later this year.
