Libyan state TV has shown footage of embattled strongman Muammar Gaddafi visiting a school in Tripoli – his first televised public appearance in five days.
Libya’s official news agency Jana said the school is located in an area known as Zanata “whose sound barrier has been violated by NATO airplanes.” In the footage, Gaddafi could be seen entering a school building surrounded by bodyguards with pupils chanting anti-Western slogans.
The footage claim to have been recorded on Saturday. In the end, Gaddafi’s bodyguards drove him away in a white car.
Meanwhile, forces loyal to Gaddafi are reported to be shelling rebel positions in the western city of Ajabiya. At least three rebels were killed and two people injured, including a civilian, the AP said.
