Iranian leader accuses U.S. of plotting to destabilize Pakistan nuclear facilities

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has accused the United States of planning a series of diversions at Pakistani nuclear facilities, Pakistan’s DawnNews television channel reported on Tuesday.

“We have reliable information that America plans to organize diversions at Pakistani nuclear facilities in order to assume control over Pakistan and weaken Pakistani people and the government,” the channel quoted Ahmadinejad as saying at a news conference in Tehran.

He added that the United States plans to involve the UN Security Council and other international organizations in its schemes and eventually establish “a full-scale military presence in Pakistan.”

Pakistani officials have not commented on Ahmadinejad’s statement, the channel reported, adding that the Iranian leader had refrained from giving further details.
