Around 590,000 people were evacuated over the past three days in Japan, struggling with the aftermaths of the devastating earthquakes. As the UN reports, the evacuation was carried out in areas affected by the earthquake and tsunami, as well as within a 20- kilometer radius of the “Fukushima” nuclear plant.
Meanwhile, search and rescue teams from around the world are converging on Japan, however they are unable to make much progress, since their efforts are undermined by continuing repeat-tremors, tsunami alerts and fires. Therefore, international rescuers have been able to help only 3 thousand people.
