Prime Minister Putin has instructed the government to meet a Japanese request for extra Russian fuel by immediately stepping up the shipment of liquefied natural gas to Japan. The gas will come from plants on the Russian island of Sakhalin.
Meeting with three key ministers in Moscow Saturday, Putin said Japan is a good neighbour and occasional disagreements with it cannot be allowed to hamper emergency help.
